Teachers: Resources for Middle Grades (6-8)

The North Carolina Collaborative for Mathematics Learning (NC2ML) aims to support NC math educators in implementing the revised mathematics content standards in ways that align with what we know from research on students’ mathematical thinking, mathematics teaching, and teacher learning. To do so, we bring together mathematics educators to co-design research-based resources and professional learning opportunities.

Formative Assessments

Formative assessments (data about students that drive subsequent instruction) are critical to productive mathematics teaching and learning. The NC2ML team has created a set of 2 to 3 formative assessments for certain clusters at each grade level. Although these can be used independently of the Task Sequences provided in the Task Sequence Resources, many of them correspond with the Clustered Task Sequences and can provide information about how students made sense of those material.
