NC is a leader in math education.
NC2ML works to ensure that NC teachers and leaders have resources and learning opportunities to continue doing great work.
The North Carolina Collaborative for Mathematics Learning (NC2ML) is a research-practice partnership that includes The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, universities and school districts across the state of North Carolina. Through this partnership, teachers, district and state leaders, mathematicians, and researchers work together to support mathematics education in North Carolina.
North Carolina is highly regarded in the area of math education. Our national presence in the field is the result of a number of factors:
- A collaborative network of committed K-12 educators, school- and district-based leaders, university faculty, and professional development leaders dedicated to the advancement of math education in NC.
- Our ability to serve as a reputable and trustworthy resource for educators from across the country.
- Our many high-quality teacher education programs.
We build upon these factors to foster a partnership that seeks to strengthen students’ math learning in NC by ensuring that all of our students will be college and career ready — problem solvers who can use their math skills to achieve their goals and succeed in jobs both in the current economy and in the future. We believe the math classroom should be an active, energized environment where students work together to solve problems. We support math education that’s research based and teacher tested. We’re here to give educators the resources they need to be outstanding leaders in the classroom and to help parents appreciate and understand today’s math. While our work is broad and far-reaching, our ultimate goal is to cultivate a community committed to the strengthening of mathematics education in NC.
